Next month, 900 families are expected to return to Aghdam, Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, said at the "III Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forum" held in Khankendi, APA-Economics reports.

He said that within the framework of the Great Return program, new residents are planned to be resettled in Aghdam in the near future.

"Next month, the first 900 families are expected to return to Aghdam. This is the next stage of the Great Return process and is great news for all of us," Emin Huseynov emphasized.

According to him, currently 16 highways (a total of 600 kilometers) and the Baku-Aghdam railway have been reconstructed in the district, and an international airport has been put into operation in just 8 months.

The Special Representative added that the settlement has already been completed in three villages in Aghdam, and about 4 thousand people have returned.

“These people have returned to their native lands; they have homes and jobs. Most importantly, life is now being restored,” E. Huseynov noted.

Currently, the economically active population in the region is 2,200 people, and the unemployment rate is below 8 percent.

“You already know that the first relocations have taken place in the Red Bazaar, Sus, and Hadrut settlements, and this process will continue until the end of the year. We hope to ensure the relocation of 1,300–1,500 families to the Khojavend district by year-end, and this process will continue into 2026. Overall, all our projects are proceeding according to schedule,” added Emin Huseynov.
