Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. A new automobile plant will be launched in Nakhchivan in January 2010.

Musa Abdullayev, Director of existing Nakhchivan Automobile Plant, said the launch of the plant was delayed to January 2010 from November 2009 because of the delay in deliveries from abroad.

He attributed the delay of deliveries to the global financial crisis.

“The shipment of test equipment is delayed because out foreign partner is affected by the financial crisis. We have already discussed the issue and we will get the shipment on January 4,” he added.

A partnership agreement was signed with Chinese Lifan Corporation on the sidelines of China-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Beijing to establish the assembly of cars in Nakhchivan.

According to him, 108 cars will be assembled at the initial phase and 216 cars in the second phase.

“These cars include Lifan-320, Lifan-520 (sedan and hatchback) and Lifan-620 (sedan). Parts will be supplied from China,” he added.
