Azerbaijan plans to carry out relevant measures at manufacturing enterprises to explore opportunities for implementing halal standards, Ilgar Hasanov, Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, told journalists during a media training session dedicated to World Standards Day, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, measures are planned in the coming period to promote halal standards, examine production processes on-site at manufacturing enterprises, and explore opportunities for implementing these standards.
Ilgar Hasanov noted that Azerbaijan is a member of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), and most of the standards adopted by the organization have been adopted as state standards in the country.
"Global demand for halal products is quite high. By taking advantage of this effectively, we can increase our export potential," he said.
The agency official added that halal standards currently exist in Azerbaijan, and efforts are planned to expand their practical application and promotion.
