# 18 December 2009 07:47 (UTC +04:00)
The document was signed by KOICA Implementation Survey Team Leader Cho Sang-Woo and Azerbaijani Ministry’s transportation policy and economy officer Sadraddin Mammadov.

The purpose of the project is to perform a feasibility study for the construction of a sea bridge over Baku Bay, improve transport infrastructure in Baku, and study and introduce the Korean experience to increase the capacity of Azerbaijani specialists.

The Korean government has approved $1.6 million for project preparation work in 2009-2011.

The length of the bridge over the sea from Shykh to Zygh will be 14.5 kilometres and the total length 26 kilometres with the access roads included.

The sea bridge will be built on high props, not to hinder the movement of ships beneath. Ropes will be used in order to ensure the stability and elasticity of the bridge.

The Korean side plans to provide about $1 billion for the construction. The bridge is planned for commissioning by 2015.
