Baku- Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. The lawyers of “NIDA” activist Rashadat Akhundov have appealed to Nasimi District Court for commutation of pretrial detention by house arrest or bail, Media Rights Institute told APA. According to the petition submitted to the court, court decision on pretrial detention of Rashadat Akhundov is illegal. Lawyers asked the court to commute the pretrial detention to house arrest or bail, pass a special decision regarding the persons, who made illegal decision, compensate for pecuniary and non-pecuniary losses.
Rashadat Akhundov was detained by four unknown persons while leaving jhis house on March 30. He was charged under Article 228.3 (Illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it) of the Criminal Code. Nasimi district court sentenced him to pretrial detention.
