The Prosecutor General said that efficient organization of the fight against corruption that is a dangerous manifestation of organized crime was one of the main duties of the prosecuting authorities of Azerbaijan in the reporting period. Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General's Office has completed investigation of 100 criminal cases on 200 persons and sent to the relevant courts. The investigations have been launched into 14 out of 3,237 applications received by the 161 hot line under various articles of the Criminal Code and 4 of them was completed and sent to the relevant courts for consideration.
All prosecuting agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office, Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General were tasked to take necessary measures for strengthening anti-corruption fight, preventing these negative manifestations and eliminating their reasons.
Garalov also said that due to the implementation of the Azerbaijani President’s decree “On strengthening the fight against corruption-related law violations in the area of management of state and municipal property and resources” dated June 22, 2009, a number of measures were taken towards execution of relevant order on the Republic Prosecutor’s Office, specialists were involved on the received appeals, inspections were carried out through decisions passed with their participation and 2 criminal cases were launched. The corresponding structures and subordinated prosecutors were given concrete task to strengthen the fight against corruption-related law violations in the area of management of state and municipal property and resources and ensure transparency by controlling the inspections.
