Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. The court has finished the investigation into the criminal case on businessman Arzu Abdullayev, who was detained over the case of rector of former Azerbaijan International University Elshad Abdullayev.
APA reports quoting the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office that investigation group established under the Prosecutor General is investigating cases regarding missing Mahir Abdullayev and other facts.
The criminal case on Kazimov Arzu Firudin facing charges under article 178.3.2 (swindling) of the Criminal Code has been investigated and correspondingly sent to Baku Grave Crimes Court for hearing. Comprehensive, full and objective investigation proved Arzu Kazimov guilty in the crime.
The investigation has found out that Arzu Kazimov introduced himself as head of
a housing cooperative society, said he had relations with various officials, gave false promises to find Mahir Abdullayev and swindled Elshad Abdullayev of $1.500.000.
In exchange for the money, basing on the contract signed on April 9, 2005, Elshad Abdullayev registered KNF Investment LLC owned by Arzu Kazimov’s brother Nizami Kazimov, its land plot in Sabunchu district and constructions there to the name of his father-in-law Huseyn Ahmadov.
As the investigation did not determine the participation of the late Deputy Interior Minister Zahid Dunyamaliyev in the crime committed by Arzu Kazimov, criminal prosecution was dropped.
Moreover, another criminal case on Elshad Abdullayev’s attempt to give $1.500.000 bribe was separated from the materials of this criminal case and submitted to the Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General.
