First Deputy Prosecutor General: “Those interfering in the work of election commissions can be brought to justice”

Usubov said that the Prosecutor General’s Office received 365 appeals on the results of the parliamentary elections in 2005. 102 of those appeals were sent by the CEC, 35 by constituency election commissions, 4 by block of parties, 31 by law enforcement bodies and 193 by citizens.

Usubov noted that the criminal case was launched into 20 Constituency Election Commissions. The results of 10 Constituency Election Commissions were annulled. The results of 4 election commissions were annulled by the CEC, and results of 6 election commissions by the Constitutional Court.

Usubov underlined that the Prosecutor General's Office didn’t receive any appeal during the presidential elections in 2008, while received 89 appeals regarding parliamentary elections in 2010. 83 of those appeals were sent to the CEC and Constituency Election Commissions, 5 of them were commented on: “The criminal case was launched into the appeal on the interference of candidate Vidadi Ingandarov in the work of Goychay – Aghdash Constituency Election Commission #89. “

He added that reduction in the number of violations can be regarded as the result of proper work of election commissions.
