Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. Baku Court on Grave Crimes continued on Friday the hearing on the criminal case of Nazim Agabeyov accused of drug trafficking.
In his speech, Agabayev’s lawyer Adil Ismayilov said that the accusation is groundless and the innocence of his defendant has been proven during the trial. Then the lawyer asked for acquittal.
Making his final plea, Agabeyov said that he neither smokes nor drinks. “I’m a normal citizen and I don’t use drugs.”
Following the adjournment, a verdict was announced.
According to the verdict, it was not proven that Aghabeyov bought drugs for the purpose of sale, and it was recommended to replace Article No. 234.4.3 for which he is charged with Article No. 234.1.
Under the verdict, Aghabeyov was sentenced to conditional imprisonment for a term of 2 years and 4 months, and he was released in the courtroom.
Earlier, a public prosecutor had demanded to sentence Aghabeyov in seven years in prison.
Aghabeyov is a brother-in-law of Meydan TV director Emin Milli. His father Mais Agabeyov is one of the well-known artists of Azerbaijan.
