Results of investigation into AZAL plane crash to be announced after new year

The results of the investigation into the crash of the Embraer-190 passenger aircraft belonging to AZAL near Aktau in December 2024 may be announced after the New Year, RIA Novosti reported, citing Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and head of the State Commission for the investigation of the incident, Kanat Bozumbayev, APA reports.

“The standard duration of such investigations is approximately one year, sometimes a bit longer. The relevant work is currently ongoing,” Bozumbayev stated.

He did not rule out the possibility of a delay in the publication of the final report.

Note that in early August, Bozumbayev stated that the final report on the crash was planned to be presented within a few months. At that time, he mentioned that the aircraft's avionics module had been sent to the United States for examination.

Recall that an Embraer 190 aircraft belonging to AZAL, while operating the Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau, located in west of Kazakhstan, in the early morning hours of December 25, 2024. There were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board, of whom only 29 survived.
