The Prosecutor General's Office has issued an official warning to Elton Mammadov, the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement, APA reports.
It was reported that the statement of Elton Arzuman Mammadov, former head of the Affairs Department of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, currently head of the Social Services Department of the Presidium of that institution, regarding the criminal case being investigated by the Chief Anti-Corruption Office under the Prosecutor General, has been published. In his statement, Elton Mammadov said that he had not been summoned by the investigation body, had not committed any legal violations, and called the information published in the media on this matter false.
It is reported that regarding the illegal activities that occurred at ANAS, in the criminal case being investigated by the Chief Anti-Corruption Office under the Prosecutor General under Articles 179.4 (waste causing particularly large damage) and 308.2 (abuse of official powers resulting in serious consequences) of the Criminal Code, suspicions have been identified concerning the unjustified expenditure of 3 million manat of budget funds.
As a result of investigative measures, the 3 million manat of budget funds that were unjustifiably spent have been fully reimbursed to the state budget by Elton Mammadov.
"In addition, Elton Mammadov was summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office for spreading statements in the media that were not truthful and caused public confusion, as well as for actions that could undermine the objectivity of the preliminary investigation and public trust. He was given an official warning, with the requirements of the legislation explained to him," the statement reads.
