Investigation into embezzlement and misuse cases at ANAS continues under Prosecutor General’s Office

Research continues at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), APA reports.

The investigation covers the years of activity under ANAS President Isa Habibbeyli, as well as previous leaders (Ramiz Mehdiyev, Akif Alizade).

It is reported that the investigation is being conducted by the Chief Anti-Corruption Office under the Prosecutor General.

The investigation is examining whether there were cases of embezzlement and misuse at ANAS.

Note that in previous years, several criminal cases related to legal violations at ANAS have been investigated by the Chief Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev also stated in his statement to the press on October 1 that a comprehensive investigation is being conducted regarding legal violations that occurred at ANAS at different times.

He explained that the criminal cases are being investigated in several directions. “According to the information I have, the preliminary investigation has already been completed for some episodes. These criminal cases have been sent to the court for trial.”

Currently, the preliminary investigation continues for another criminal case related to violations in the said institution.
