The final hearing in the criminal case of former diplomat Ramiz Valiyev, who was detained by the State Security Service (SSS), has been held, APA reports.
The verdict was announced today at the hearing held in Narimanov District Court.
According to the verdict, the accused Ramiz Vəliyev was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. As an additional punishment, he was deprived of the right to hold certain positions for 2 years.
Note that former diplomat Ramiz Valiyev, who served as an adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Arab Republic of Egypt, was detained on December 8, 2024, as a result of operational measures carried out by the State Security Service (SSS).
He was charged under Article 308.2 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
R. Valiyev was found guilty of causing serious harm to the rights and legitimate interests of individuals or legal entities, including the legally protected interests of the state, by intentionally using his official powers contrary to the interests of the service in order to gain an illegal advantage for himself or third parties in connection with the performance of his official duties.
