Five years have passed since the city of Ganja was subjected to the fifth rocket attack by the Armenian armed forces during the Second Karabakh War, APA reports.

At night, around 1 a.m. on October 17, 2020, the enemy once again launched SCUD/Elbrus operational-tactical ballistic missiles at the Javadkhan settlement in the center of Azerbaijan’s second-largest city, located outside the front line.

During the enemy attack, residential houses were completely destroyed, and residents were trapped under the rubble. As a result, 14 people were martyred, more than 55 were injured, and a large amount of damage was caused to numerous civilian infrastructure facilities and vehicles. Among the martyred and injured were minors, women, and the elderly.

A criminal case has been launched by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan under several articles of the Criminal Code in connection with the incident.

Note that during the Second Karabakh War, the city of Ganja was attacked a total of five times (on October 4, 5, 8, 11, and 17) by the armed forces of Armenia using rockets and heavy artillery. As a result, 26 people were martyred, 175 were injured, and a large amount of damage was caused to civilian infrastructure facilities and vehicles located in the city.

Recall that during the Second Karabakh War, as a result of Armenia's military aggression, a total of 93 civilians were killed, including 12 children and 27 women, 454 civilians were injured, damage was caused to a total of 12,292 residential and non-residential premises, 288 vehicles, and damage was identified in 1,018 farms.
