A preliminary hearing in the criminal case against former Head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and his former assistant Eldar Amirov was held today at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, APA reports.
During the proceedings, presided over by Judge Murad Aslanov, the defendants' personal details were verified, and their procedural rights and obligations under the law were explained to them.
The court ensured the necessary conditions for the defendants to exercise their right to defense and other procedural guarantees.
By a court decision, the criminal case was scheduled for trial.
Recall that a criminal case against Ramiz Mehdiyev was initiated by the State Security Service in October 2025. Ramiz Mehdiyev was charged under Articles 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained through criminal means), 274 (treason), and 278.1 (actions aimed at forcibly seizing power or forcibly changing the constitutional order of the state) of the Criminal Code.
Note that Ramiz Mehdiyev served as Head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019.
Eldar Amirov was an employee of the Presidential Administration during Ramiz Mehdiyev's tenure as its head and later served as his assistant until recently.
