The goal was scored in the 11th minute by Swedish midfielder Yassine Ayari.
Manchester City suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat. In their last matchday, they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa, marking their first defeat under Enzo Maresca. The Italian took over in June, becoming the first manager in the competition's history to win his first seven games after taking charge.
The teams played their second match this week. On October 28, Manchester City beat Brighton at home in the League Cup Round of 16 (2-2, 4-3 on penalties). Maresca's side are the reigning champions.
Manchester City leads the Premier League table with 21 points. Arsenal, who play their ninth match on Sunday, have the same number. Brighton rounds out the top three with 19 points. Manchester City will play Nottingham Forest away on November 7, and Brighton will host Brentford the following day.
