More than 100,000 people participated in mass youth protests held in Germany on October 31, APA reports, citing DPA.

According to the agency, the announcement was made by the "Gen Z regelt" ("Generation Z Decides") movement, which organized the demonstrations.

A representative of the movement said the total number of participants could be higher, as the number of people attending protests in another 6–8 German cities has not yet been determined.

"Today, 100,000 people showed why they took to the streets. For us, this is only the first step. We want to participate in the pan-European protests scheduled for November 20," the movement's representative said.

It was noted that the organizers plan to mobilize their supporters for mass demonstrations again in three weeks.

On October 31, protests took place in more than 30 German cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart and others.

Although the demonstrations were largely peaceful, riots broke out in some cities during the evening.

In Berlin, pyrotechnic devices, glass bottles and eggs were thrown at police officers during a march by radical left-wing groups. Barricades were set on fire in Hamburg, while police used water cannons against protesters in Cologne.
