An attempt to illegally transport diamond stones across the customs border has been prevented, APA reports, citing the State Customs Committee.
As a result of comprehensive customs control measures carried out by employees of the Main Customs Department for Air Transport, an attempt to illegally move diamond stones across the customs border was prevented.
The hand luggage of two passengers arriving on the Dubai-Baku flight was inspected. During the inspection, diamonds with a total size of 120.49 carats, hidden from customs control, were found inside the speakers in the laptop bag of one of the passengers, and certificates and cellophane packages for the diamonds were found in the suitcase of another person.
An investigation is underway regarding the incident.
