The court trial on the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service against Elkhan Ibrahimov, accused of joining an illegal armed group in a foreign country and participating in the training of that group, has been concluded, APA reports.
The verdict was announced at a hearing chaired by Judge Khalig Mammadov at the Sheki Court on Grave Crimes.
According to the verdict, the accused Elkhan Ibrahimov has been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment.
According to the accusation, the accused joined an illegal armed group in the territory of a foreign country, participated in various military trainings at the group’s training camps, and took part in the armed protection of that group.
Elkhan Ibrahimov was found guilty under Articles 12.1, 218.2 (participation in a criminal association (organization), as well as participation in the association of organizers, leaders, or other representatives of organized groups) and Articles 12.1, 279.1 (creation of armed groups or formations not provided for by legislation, as well as participation in their activities) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
