Persons attempting to smuggle narcotics into the country were detained, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and combat smuggling, illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors are being successfully continued.
As a result of operational-military measures carried out in the service area of the Border Troops of the State Border Service "Lankaran" border detachment, the smuggling of narcotics weighing a total of 14 kilograms 100 grams into the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented.
As a result of a joint operational-search measure conducted by the employees of the "Lankaran" border detachment of the State Border Service and the Astara District Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Emin Jafarov and Neman Rahmatullayev - who attempted to leave the scene of the incident in a "BYD" car with state registration number 99-PC-617 were detained as suspects.
Operational and investigative measures are continuing.
