Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev commented today on the progress of the investigation into the crash of an AZAL aircraft near Aktau, APA reports, citing Zakon.kz.
Kanat Bozumbayev stated that the investigation has been divided into two parts.
According to him, the first part is the criminal case conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office, in which the Kazakh side is in contact with its counterparts in Russia: “The second part concerns the investigation by the Ministry of Transport, and that investigation is in its final stage. Therefore, we are now awaiting the final conclusions from the licensing authorities, or from the technology holders, air navigation devices, etc.”
Bozumbayev added that the investigation may be completed later this year or early next year: “As for the Prosecutor General’s criminal case, they are in contact. There is progress there as well, and you have seen the statements made by various leaders of neighboring states. Therefore, we hope that part will also be concluded next year.”
