Nasimi Musayev, a serviceman of the Azerbaijan Army detained in Armenia, had no intention of killing anyone, Sputnik Armenia reports, citing Chairman of Armenia's Investigative Committee Artur Poghosyan.
He stated that the Azerbaijani serviceman had already been interrogated and had given testimony. According to Poghosyan, the serviceman lost his way due to fog. He refused to disclose further details of the accused's testimony, as the investigation is ongoing.
"We must assess the facts. This person lost his way and came here on foot, saw a house, broke the window, entered because he was hungry, prepared food for himself, and changed his clothes. When the children entered, he took their phone and forced them to sit down, but did not injure them," Poghosyan told journalists.
It should be noted that, according to information released by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office, reports emerged that Nasimi Rasim oghlu Musayev, who was performing compulsory active military service in one of the military units stationed in the direction of Azerbaijan's Lachin district, had gone missing.
It was reported that on September 26, 2026, a search for Nasimi Musayev was launched after he was found to be absent from his place of service and his whereabouts could not be determined. The relevant forces of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out the necessary search operations.
To investigate the circumstances of the incident, a relevant inquiry was conducted by the Military Prosecutor's Office. As a result of the inquiry, reasonable grounds for suspicion were established that Nasimi Musayev had left his military unit without authorization.
Nasimi Musayev was arrested by a decision of an Armenian court.
