TeleRadio Council will make the last decision at the meeting on Dec 28, stated Nushirevan Meherremli, the chairman of National Television and Radio Council at the meeting with cable television companies, APA reports.
He said that the foreign channels are broadcasted by sputnik and cable in world practices.
“Local broadcasters should use national frequencies. We put off to consider the issue several years age because local channels did not developed much. 10 broadcasters have been granted license so far. The agreement on reduce of subscriber’s rental and increase of channels by 50 from the next year has been reached, he noted. The reason for letting TRT broadcast is an agreement between the countries. AzTV is also broadcasting in Turkey.
“Russia and Azerbaijan signed a contract in 1995 that let neighborhood country’s channels broadcast in Azerbaijan. But the contract is out of law as it is unilateral. We may consider the Russian channels broadcast in Azerbaijan in case if Azerbaijani channels broadcast in Russia, he added. /APA/
