Student kills police in Azerbaijan

Employee of post patrol duty of Gandja City Main Police Office, police sergeant Elmir Hasan Panahov was hospitalized with a knife wound. But he died at the hospital because of blood loss.

Chief of Gandja City Main Police Office, police general-major Rasim Musayev told APA that the incident was unrelated to the professional activity of the police officer. Panahov argued with his neighbor, Ismayilov Javidan Rasim, 20, at home. Ismayilov wounded Panahov with a knife as a result of the dispute. Though the injured was hospitalized, it was impossible to save him.

Musayev noted that the criminal case was launched into the fact and Ismayilov was detained.

Assistant prosecutor of Gandja city Rafael Hasanov told APA that on May 21, at about 01.00, employee of post patrol duty of Gandja City Main Police Office, police sergeant Elmir Hasan Panahov was killed off-duty by his neighbor, resident of Gandja city Ismayilov Javidan Rasim because of dispute between them. Javidan Ismayilov came to police office and admitted that he killed Elmir Panahov deliberately and handed over the murder tool. He was detained as suspect. The investigation is underway.

Ismayilov is a student of Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Training.
