Elmira Suleymanova visits Detention Facility â„–2 in Gandja

On May 18, Azerbaijanâ€™s Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova visited Justice Ministry Penitentiary Serviceâ€™s Detention Facility â„–2 situated in Gandja city and became familiar with confinement conditions of the prisoners, press service of the Ombudspersonâ€™s Office told APA.

She met with a person kept in the inmate discipline unit, 9 women and 5 minors kept in the facility. Suleymanova took an interest in their confinement conditions, feeding, level of medical service, treatment of facilityâ€™s employees with these persons. The prisoners said they were satisfied with the conditions in the facility.

Besides, some prisoners addressed the ombudsperson on nonobjective investigation carried out on them. Suleymanova said she would address the corresponding state agencies for taking measures on raised issues and gave recommendations to the facilityâ€™s leadership on further improvement of confinement conditions.
