Security officer killed in operation against armed group in Gandja buried

APA reports that the officer of the Special Force of the Ministry of National Security, Lieutenant-Colonel Elshad Guliyev has been buried in Baku today. The ministryâ€™s officials also attended the funeral.

The Ministry of National Security held an operation yesterday at 04.00 against the armed group, which was preparing to commit terrorist attack in Gandja. One law-enforcement officer was killed and three were wounded during the operation. From the opposite side, one died and two were wounded. The killed militant had explosives and therefore the experts were called to the site to deactivate it.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Security Arif Babayev confirmed that the ministry carried out operation in Gandja. No details were given.

Under the executive order issued by Azerbaijanâ€™s President on March 28, 2009, Lieutenant-Colonel Elshad Vali Guliyev was decorated with the Medal for Motherland.
