Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office issues statement regarding Khadija Ismayilova

The statement sent to APA by the press service of the Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office says that correspondent of the Azerbaijani service of the Radio Liberty Khadija Ismayilova and her representative, lawyer Adil Ismayilov have recently made groundless and false statements in media attempting to create negative opinion. They have said that they are dissatisfied with the investigation carried out by Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office basing on her appeal regarding the violation of her right to privacy, said they can not meet with the inspector carrying out investigation, investigation is not being carried out thoroughly, necessary investigative actions are not being carried out.

In connection with this, we reiterate that on March 15, 2012, Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office launched criminal case on article 156 of the Criminal Code basing on Khadija Ismayilovaâ€™s appeal regarding the violation of her right to privacy. Investigation Department of Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office has been commissioned to investigate the case.

Khadija Ismayilova gave testimony in the presence of investigator. Her petition was approved and the persons, whom she demanded to interrogate, and witnesses gave evidences. The site was examined in the presence of Khadija Ismayilova and her lawyer and material evidences were collected and sent to the examination. Query was sent to the different organizations, instruction was given and other necessary investigative measures were taken.

Ismayilovaâ€™s lawyer was informed about the all investigative actions previously.

Ismayilova and her lawyer have been invited to the Baku prosecutorâ€™s office several times since the start of criminal investigation. Concrete instruction was given for comprehensive and objective investigation.

The investigation is underway.
