6 militants killed in Russia’s Dagestan

Baku-APA. Six militants were killed in a security sweep in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, the National Anti-Terror Committee (NAC) said Wednesdayç APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The identities of the six militants have been established, an NAC spokesman was quoted by local media as saying, adding that one of them participated in the killing of the head of the Sergokala district police.
According to NAC, the gang, led by Turkish mercenary Mohanned, also known as Sheikh Abdusalam, was involved in a number of terror attacks and killings of local residents and policemen.
Violence is common in the North Caucasus republics of Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia where militants frequently attack police officers and authorities despite increased police efforts to crack down on insurgents.
Russian interior forces killed over 300 militants in the Northern Caucasus region in 2011.
