UN envoy negotiates political solution to Libyan crisis

Baku-APA. UN’s special envoy to Libya Abdel-Elah Al-Khatib met with members of the Libyan rebel government on Monday in search of a political solution to the five-months-long civil conflict in the African state, APA reports quoting Ria Novosti.
The UN press service said the envoy "held talks in the city of Benghazi... in his continuing efforts to find a political solution."
Khatib is expected to visit Tripoli on Tuesday for further negotiations.
Libya has been rocked by fighting between pro- and anti-government forces since mid-February. An international military operation began on March 19 following a UN resolution and has been extended until September.
