Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations: The water level has risen by 20cm in Sarisu Lake since yesterday

Deputy Minister said extra forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations had been involved.
â€œThe traffic has stopped as the waves caused by the wind created problems on the way to Muradbeyli village of Sabirabad. We have involved all forces and try to eliminate the problem. The forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the staff of the Defense Ministry are working here,â€ he said.

Orujali Hajiyev said enough technical equipment had been sent to reinforce the dam around Sarisu Lake.

Deputy Minister also said the water level in the Kura had risen by 12cm.

He said the Ministry of Emergency Situations is ready to evacuate the people of the neighboring villages. The people have been warned to lead out the children, the old, women from the territories considered to be dangerous.

General-Lieutenant Karim Valiyev, who is leading the forces involved in dam reinforcement around the lake, told APA that the situation is dangerous in the territory. According to him, over 1000 soldiers of the ministry are reinforcing the dam.

The residents began to leave their homes in Muradbeyli village of Sabirabad around the Sarisu Lake, APA correspondent reports.

The lake ran over the dam softening soil around and creating problems during the windy weather last night. The large-tonnage vehicles couldnâ€™t leave the territory. A road from the center of Sabirabad to the regionâ€™s Gasimbeyli village became dangerous.

Araz River also burst creating problems for the catwalk, only communication between the regional center and the villages of Gasimbeyli, Novruzlu, Asgarbeyli, Muradbeyli, Akhtachi and others.

There is a road between Saatli and those villages, but it can not be used by small cars because of heavy truck traffic carrying construction materials for dam-entrenchment work there.

Araz River created flood threat for Novruzlu village as well.
