Azerbaijan’s Minister of Emergency Situations: The dam collapsed in Murselli village has been restored, the water level has fallen by 1.5m

The Minister said they had viewed the delta of the Kura in Neftchala, two ships of the Caspian Sea Shipping Company were working there.
“The part of the river flowing into the sea is being cleared of silt. Two days ago the sides of the lighthouse there was in the water. Today we see that the work has produced positive results. The work will continue,” he said.

The Minister said the reinforcement of the dam broken by the Kura in Bayramli settlement of Shirvan had been completed.
“You see that the water was purified in the territories that had been flooded before. The dam collapsed in Murselli village was restored two hours ago. The dam is being reinforced. From the nearby houses, observations we see that the water level has fallen by 1.5m. The places resided by people, sown areas, pastures are no more flooded. The initial results of the work are quite satisfactory,” he said.

Kamaladdin Heydarov said measures were being taken to prevent other threats.
“From today we will possibly help the people settled in the tent camps to move to their houses. These are residents evacuated two-three days ago. Water pumps of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will today start to absorb water in the flooded houses, yards, the employees of the Health Ministry are to do sanitation. Necessary measures must be taken to prevent diseases. The process has started from today. Fortunately, the state bodies could eliminate the problem in a short time. We are glad that there is no human loss. The situation is stable. All of the collapsed dams have been restored. We can say that the situation is stable. Safety measures continue and will continue,” he said.

To the question “May any problems reoccur in the disaster area if the weather deteriorates?” Kamaladdin Heydarov said:
“While holding a meeting here Mr. President said the situation was under his control. Therefore, all rescuing, controlling, restoring bodies keep the process under the control. I do not think the disaster will occur if the water level rises for some reason. But we should take measures beforehand in order to prevent problems,” he said.
