Work is underway to bring home the two Azerbaijani children sheltered in Baghdad, Ramiz Qafarov, Azerbaijan’s charge d'affaires to Iraq, told APA.
Two-year-old Khadija and 3-year-old Abdulla were found in the territories liberated from ISIL. Their parents are reported dead. The children are believed to have been taken to ISIL-control territories by their parents. They were brought to Iraq by security forces after these territories were freed.
The charge d'affaires said that this issue was discussed with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
“Work is underway to return the children to Azerbaijan. There are some difficulties. Detailed information will be provided later,” the diplomat added.
