French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that the forest fires engulfing the country have been brought under control, APA reports.
"Overall, the fires are under control in our country today," the prime minister said in an interview with La Tribune Dimanche.
He specifically mentioned the Gironde department in southwestern France, where, he said, the forest fire was extremely difficult to fight because it generated its own air currents and spread unpredictably. "The situation has now become more stable again thanks to the outstanding work of the emergency services, changing weather conditions, and constant monitoring of the fire," Lecornu noted.
