An official opening session of the Global Young Leaders Forum, organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center with the support of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Diaspora, took place in Baku on Aug. 21, APA reported.

Addressing the event, the co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, founding director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Ismail Serageldin, noted the importance of the event held in Baku.

Bulgaria’s former president Rosen Plevneliev said that the future of the planet will be built together with young leaders

“Together with the youth we can make the future of our planet even better. Young leaders should strive for peace, stand against war and lead the world in the right direction,” he noted.

Ukraine’s former first lady (2005-2010) Kateryna Yushchenko stressed the importance of ensuring the transparency of e-government.

“Currently, there is a rapid development in the world’s healthcare system. The development of biogenetics should be hailed as well,” said Yushchenko. “Computer technologies will make medical services even more effective. We should focus our efforts mainly on ensuring freedom and access to innovations.”

Latvia’s former president Valdis Zatlers in his speech emphasized the importance of the forum for young leaders from the point of view of sharing experience.
