It is our tragedy,” said Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev while responding to the question about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict at the press conference on the 2nd World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue to be held in Baku, APA reports.
The minister said that there are lasting conflicts in the region, where Azerbaijan is situated, and the main reason of this is the aggression of the neighbouring country during the collapse of the USSR: “I do not want to talk more about the roots of these conflicts, but we should agree that the aggression is still continuing. The UN Security Council has adopted 4 resolutions and they have not been implemented, we regret it.”
Sharing Abulfas Garayev's views, ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri added that the fact of occupation of Azerbaijan's territories is causing concern.
"One can come to the conclusion that some Western circles want to create unstable situation in stable countries. Azerbaijan is a tolerant country. The film demonstrated today shows that representatives of various religions coexist here. As Mr. Minister has said, UN has passed four resolutions, but they have not been implemented. What should happen? Should Azerbaijan give up? People's desire should be respected. The Azerbaijani people have chosen their leader, Constitution, they are happy, let's support these people. One should not create unstable situation here. I call on these circles to leave the Islamic world in peace, not to interfere in our affairs, we can solve our problems ourselves," he said.
