The ambassador said that such incidents complicate the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “Azerbaijan is a friendly and fraternal country to us. We feel very sorry for the incident. The OSCE Minsk Group which deals with settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should fulfill its mission.”

Jahangirzadeh said that Iran worked hard to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during the reign of Heydar Aliyev, but it was impossible. “Iran supports a political solution to the conflict. A war in the region is directed against each country’s citizens. When there is peace, stability and no interference of external forces in the region, then it can blossom. Tomorrow, thousands of children and women can be killed. Therefore, the OSCE Minsk Group should fulfill its mission. Iran always stands ready to contribute to the settlement of the conflict”, said the ambassador.

On July 4, around 20:40, Armenian armed forces shelled the Alkhanly village of Fizuli region with 82mm- and 120-mm-caliber mortars, including heavy grenade launchers.

As a result of this provocation, village residents Guliyeva Sahibe Idris gizi (1967) and Guliyeva Zakhra Elnur gizi (2015) died. Guliyeva Sarvinaz Iltifat gizi (1965) was wounded.
