Azerbaijani FM receives EU Special Representative for South Caucasus

Baku-APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has received the delegation headed by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort, APA reports quoting the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The sides have discussed cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and other regional issues.

They have expressed satisfaction on the development of relations between the EU and Azerbaijan, particularly strategic partnership in the field of energy. The importance of the expansion of cooperation in various fields was noted at the meeting. .

E.Mammadyarov, touching the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, stressed that the failure to solve the conflict is the main obstacle to peace and stability in the region. The Minister said that the presence of the Armenian armed forces in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is main impediment to the settlement of the conflict and it is important Armenian armed forces to withdraw from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan for the settlement of the conflict.
