Baku hosts Germany-Azerbaijan dialogue forum

Baku. Anakhanum Hidayatova – APA. Germany-Azerbaijan dialogue forum on the theme “Azerbaijan’s path to Europe: progresses and potentials” has today kicked off in Baku. APA reports that the forum to last for May 25 is organized within the cooperation between the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) foundation of Germany and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.

 

Delivering a keynote speech, Jens Paulus, head of Department Europe/North America, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung said that they are interested in enhancing the relations with Azerbaijan and this forum also shows Azerbaijan’s interests in these relations.

 

Addressing the event, chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov touched on Azerbaijan-European Union, Azerbaijan-Germany and Azerbaijan-NATO relations.

 

Making speech at the panel entitled “Azerbaijan and Eastern Partnership: political and economic partnership”, Ingo Friedrich, president of the European Economic Senate (EES) and former vice-president of the European Parliament, said that the articles released by the European media should not be regarded as a political position: “The European media more covers negative news. If there is such news in Azerbaijan, it doesn’t mean that there is no positive case in Azerbaijan. These politicians are not praised in Europe.”

 

Former German secretary of state Friedhelm Ost that Europe is always interested in Azerbaijan and the country has significantly developed.

 

The forum was followed by the discussions on the theme “Regional security structures and challenges: The strategic role of Azerbaijan”.
