According to him, there are avars and lezgins among the Russian citizens living in Azerbaijan: “I would like everyone to know that Russia on the government level does not share views on restriction of the rights of national minorities like lezgins and avars in Azerbaijan”.
The ambassador said that politicized statements have negative impact on the work: “If any national minorities have problems in education, cultural needs, these issues must be settled in a silent and constructive atmosphere. I’m sure that Azerbaijan, which is our strategic partner, will regard it as urgent and constructive”.
