Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. “The nationalist policy of Armenia isolates this country from the regional development programs and leads to the population decrease,” said former Foreign Minister of Turkey Hikmet Cetin addressing the conference entitled “NATO’s role in framing the geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus and beyond” in Baku, APA reports.
Cetin said that the settlement of the conflict will create a lot of opportunities for both Armenia and region: “The Nagorno Karabakh conflict is one of the most serious problems in the region, after the cold war. This problem has long historical roots left from the Soviet Union. Nagorno Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan”.
Mentioning that there are no concrete results in OSCE Minsk Group activity, the former minister said that the conflict must be solved within the international law. He underlined that this unsolved conflict poses a threat to the international security: “At present, suggesting new ideas, Turkey wants to revitalize the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.”
Cetin called on NATO and other international organizations to make contributions to the security in the South Caucasus.
