Elmar Mammadyarov receives delegation of members of Council of Europeâ€™s Sub-group on Azerbaijan and Armenia

Baku – APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has received the delegation of the members of the Council of Europe’s Sub-group on Azerbaijan and Armenia. Press service of the Foreign Ministry told APA that Mammadyarov has answered a number of questions of the delegation on the various aspects of Azerbaijan-Council of Europe cooperation at the meeting. He noted that democratization process is going on and extensive reforms are being carried out in Azerbaijan. The Minister said Azerbaijan is committed to the enhancement of cooperation with the Council of Europe and to the obligations before the Council of Europe.

Touching on the negotiations over the peaceful settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Mammadyarov underlined that continuation of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenian armed forces is the main obstacle for the restoration of peace and stability in the region. He stressed that in order to resolve the conflict first of all the Armenian forces must be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
