Elmar Mammadyarov: We face double standards in OSCEâ€™s activity in our region

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “We face double standards in OSCE’s activity in our region,” said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in his interview with the Nezavisimaya Gazeta while commenting on the intention of changing the mandate of the OSCE Office in Baku, APA reports.

According to him, these double standards can be seen even in the assessment of the internal situation in the countries: “For example, in one country a presidential candidate shoots another one, a third candidate goes on hunger strike, but these facts are not included in OSCE reports, the elections are regarded as transparent and democratic. But in another country, the processes are studied under a microscope.”

Foreign Minister said Azerbaijan has 20-year practice at the OSCE.

“This is a paradoxical situation. They (OSCE – ed.) always speak about the rule of law, commitment to all the rules and regulations existing within the framework of OSCE. And suddenly they oppose to Azerbaijan’s intention to change the status of OSCE Office in Baku, though being the host country we must decide on what level OSCE will be represented in our country,” he said.
