Abbas Araghchi: The detention of Iranian citizen Mikayil Kazimi in Azerbaijan is nothing but a misunderstanding

Baku. Real Jafarli – APA. “We have always respected the Azerbaijani state and the territorial integrity of this Republic,” said spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry Seyed Abbas Araghchi in his interview with “Seher” TV channel, APA reports quoting IRIB.

According to him, the cooperation of Iran and Azerbaijan in political sphere and mutual visits of both countries’ officials in the last few months shows goodwill and will of the Heads of State of the two states: “The visit of chairman of Caucasian Muslims Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh is of great importance and culmination of such visits, because he is a famous person and respected much by the believers of the country. Therefore, this visit paves the way for better relations between the two countries. As you know, Allahshukur Pashazadeh held meetings with Supreme Leader, President of Iran, speaker of parliament, religious figures, great religious figures in Qom city," he said.

Araghchi also touched on common religion of the two countries.

"According to our religion, religious figures should have close relations. Iran is moving forward basing on the Islamic principles and the protection of religious values solves a number of problems. During the visit it was noted that Azerbaijan can solve a number of its problems using religious potential," he said.
