Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. The delegation consisting of ambassadors of several member countries of the Rapporteur Group on Democracy (GR-DEM) of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has arrived in Azerbaijan. The visit aims to study the pre-election situation of the country in the field of democracy and human rights, fulfillment of Azerbaijan’s obligations in front of the CoE.
The delegation is led by chairperson of Rapporteur Group on Democracy (GR-DEM), Polish Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe Urszula Gacek.
The visit will end on April 11.
Earlier, Azerbaijan had been under the monitoring of the “Ago group” of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Though this group has been abolished, the situation in Azerbaijan is controlled by GR-DEM.
