“I would like to thank everyone participating in Baku Climate Week,” Xuehong Wang, Director of the Transparency Division at the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), said in a video address during the High-Level Dialogue on Transparency held as part of the Fourth Climate Week of the UNFCCC, APA reports.
She said that today’s dialogue once again confirms an important message: “Transparency enables climate commitments to be translated into strong policies, investment-friendly plans and measurable results. Transparency enables countries to assess their current situation, determine where progress has been made, identify areas where additional measures are needed, and build the trust necessary for stronger international cooperation.”
She noted that the success of the Enhanced Transparency Framework under the Paris Agreement depends on cooperation to ensure the effective participation of all countries in this process.
In conclusion, she once again thanked Azerbaijan for organizing the event and for its commitment to partnership and transparency.
Xuehong Wang also stated that the deadline for submitting transparency reports is December 31, 2026: “Accelerating the process of submitting reports is not only a strong indicator of commitment to climate obligations, but also makes it possible to obtain valuable information at an important stage in terms of the implementation of the Paris Agreement. As the UNFCCC Secretariat, we remain fully committed to continuing cooperation with our partners and strengthening the capacity of developing countries. Our goal is to ensure that developing countries have the necessary knowledge, systems and confidence to fully and effectively implement the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF).”
