"Instead of fulfilling its international obligations, a false enemy image is being created in the form of the Baku Initiative Group"
The Baku Initiative Group has responded to the French Foreign Minister, APA reports.
Abbas Abbasov, executive director of the Baku Initiative Group, responded to the French minister's further accusations.
He called the statements unfounded: "Jan Noel Barot has once again dedicated his speech in the French National Assembly to the Baku Initiative Group. First of all, we declare that the accusations made by the minister are unfounded, non-objective, and biased. We categorically reject such claims targeting the activities of our organization within the framework of international law."
The statement notes that accusing the Baku Initiative Group, which has offered to mediate between the French government and its colonies in good faith, of destabilizing, escalating tensions, and other illegal activities, is an attempt by France to avoid fulfilling the demands of the oppressed peoples it has colonized: "Instead of fulfilling its international obligations, the French government is creating a false enemy image in the form of BIG and continues to deceive the French public."
"The Baku Initiative Group fights for decolonization and the right of oppressed peoples to self-determination, demanding respect for the history and cultural identity of the indigenous peoples of the islands. When advancing these demands, BIG refers to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), the UN General Assembly Resolution No. 1514 (Declaration on Decolonization, 1960), and other universal documents," the statement said.
Abbas Abbasov, the head of the organization, called on the French government to abandon its colonial mindset, respect the right of peoples to freedom, admit its numerous crimes against humanity and war crimes, apologize for them, and pay appropriate compensation to the affected peoples.
Note that the official Paris has once again made unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan. During a speech in parliament, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot claimed that the Tavini Party, which is in power and has the most MPs in French Polynesia, is being directed by Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the minister stated that since 2023, activities through the Baku Initiative Group have been observed to fuel tensions and deepen crises in these areas. J.N. Barrot mentioned 'examples' like violence in New Caledonia, conflicts in Guadeloupe and Martinique, and dissatisfaction caused by Cyclone Chido in Mayotte. France’s Minister of the Foreign Affairs has alleged that Azerbaijan is interfering in the processes in these territories through various methods such as "digital influence," "cyber threats," "information manipulation," and "portraying France as a colonizer," and that all of this is being used to "fuel demands for independence."
