On February 18, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the delegation led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Yusuf Raza Gilani, who was on a visit to Azerbaijan within the framework of the 15th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
During the meeting, the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, recalling with pleasure his official visit to Pakistan last year and his meeting with Yusuf Raza Gilani within this framework, noted that intensive mutual contacts and visits have contributed to the development of strategic partnership.
It was emphasized that there is potential for further development of Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations based on friendship, brotherhood, mutual respect, and support, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
During the meeting, where cooperation opportunities within regional and international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the OSCE were discussed, the two countries' continued support for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty was noted with gratitude.
It was noted that strengthening the contacts between the legislative bodies and parliamentarians of the two countries, as well as parliamentary diplomacy, contribute to the relations between two peoples, who share historical and cultural ties.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed his counterpart about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, large-scale restoration and construction works in the liberated territories, mine clearance activities, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
