China will continue to support the protection of Azerbaijan's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said at a briefing for journalists, APA reports.
The diplomat noted that mutual political trust in China-Azerbaijan relations is further strengthening.
Lu Mei emphasized that Azerbaijan highly appreciates China's position aimed at defending international justice and multilateralism and is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China on international and regional issues.
"China will, as before, support the protection of Azerbaijan's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the country's choice of a development path suited to its national characteristics," the ambassador stated.
She added that Beijing highly appreciates Azerbaijan's long-standing and firm support on issues concerning China's core interests.
According to the ambassador, China and Azerbaijan, as countries of the Global South, cooperate effectively on multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, and work together to promote genuine multilateralism and defend international justice.
Lu Mei also stated that China supports Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) for 2026–2028 and its membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
