Azerbaijani President's Representative on Special Assignments, Khalaf Khalafov, met in Moscow with Yuri Ushakov, aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin on international affairs, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports, citing Embassy of Azerbaijan in Moscow.
From April 7–9, 2025, Azerbaijani President's Representative on Special Assignments, Khalaf Khalafov, was on a working visit to Moscow.
During the visit, he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov; aide to the Russian President on international affairs, Yuri Ushakov; Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin; and Russian Deputy Foreign Ministers Mikhail Galuzin and Andrey Rudenko.
Discussions focused on Azerbaijan’s upcoming chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), including its agenda, institutional development, and transformation into an international organization. Cooperation plans were also reviewed.
Both sides praised the constructive dialogue at various levels between Azerbaijan and Russia and stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including interparliamentary ties.
It was emphasized that the Declaration on Allied Interaction signed on February 22, 2022, forms the foundation of bilateral relations and provides a strong basis for long-term collaboration.
Attention was also given to issues of concern to Azerbaijan, with a focus on taking appropriate measures.
The meetings underlined the need for continued joint efforts to strengthen long-term stability and security in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region.
The Azerbaijani Embassy noted that the meetings were held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere.
