The delegation of the Ministry, led by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, attended the 8th "World Crisis and Emergency Management Summit" held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on April 8-9, 2025, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) told APA.
The main goal of the summit, attended by delegations consisting of heads of emergency management response agencies from various countries, was to expand international cooperation and exchange of experience in order to effectively combat emergencies, especially to identify innovative approaches to ensure global preparedness for transborder crises, and to hold discussions on this issue.
Speaking at the event, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov noted the importance of the summit and emphasized that it is an important platform for enhancing global preparedness for emergencies, as well as expanding international cooperation to provide a rapid and effective response to disasters, exchanging experience in this field, and identifying advanced innovations.
The minister gave information about the successful work carried out to combat emergencies in our country, noted the importance of coordinated activities for the timely identification and elimination of threats posed by disasters, particularly in the context of global climate change, and stated that in this direction, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations actively collaborates with both relevant foreign agencies at the bilateral level and relevant international organizations, as well as within the framework of the International Civil Defence Organization. It was also emphasized that Azerbaijan, as a member of the UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), is always ready to actively participate in international rescue operations to combat large-scale emergencies.
In his speech, the minister recalled that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was successfully held in Azerbaijan and emphasized that our country provides serious support for solving global problems, including environmental protection issues.
Speeches by the heads of the countries' emergency response agencies were heard and extensive discussions were held at the two-day summit.
As part of the event, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov held a number of bilateral meetings and also viewed an exhibition showcasing the latest techniques, equipment, and various tools for combating emergency situations.
